How do I oil a storm door latch?
It doesn't automatically latch when the door closes. Maybe there is a spring in it, that is not overcoming the friction. It's a typical storm door latch, push-button on the outside and a small horizontal handle on the inside.
The door closer pulls the door all the way into the door jamb. However, the interior door handle stays pushed forward until I move it myself. The dog can now jump against the storm door to open it.
Standard "closers" are Pneumatic. They are adjustable, from gentle to SLAMMING. OILING shouldn't be an issue for the mechanism as much as adjusting; checking the condition ofr it; the condition of the hinges; latch mechanism; striker plate adjustment; etc.
