How do I fix an error code 28?

i bought this ipod. and i connect it to my pc. (The Pc is a Hp Media Center m7250n) and when i connect it throught a USB port it dosen't detect it. i already tried going to divice manager and add new hardware in control panel. and i get an error massage saying device could not finish installing code 28. This is not the only device with the same problem i have some flash drives that the computer wont detect and its the same error code. Please help me fix this error. Thank You

Had the same problem with a hp pavilion media center A1642x. The solution is to bring up device manager. Delete all the devices under Universal Serial Bus controllers. Restart the computer, and when Windows comes back up, it should re-install the usb devices again. Quick ways to get to device manager.
1. In run box type devmgmt.msc and click ok, or hit enter.
2. Create a shortcut on your desktop
a. right click on the desktop select new then shortcut.
b. n type the location of item type "C:WINDOWSsystem32devmgmt.msc" without the quotes
c. click next, and give it any name you like. I called mine Device Manager. Click Finish. and your done.

PS. Have you installed the Software for the Ipod?
